Frequently Asked Questions

I've recieved some questions over the years that I tend to answer over and over again, and while I'm always happy to answer questions, I thought I might save some people time by just dropping the more frequently asked ones here.

More recently, I've had people drop messages via the Let's Chat icon on the bottom right of the screen, but people have ommitted their email address. Unfortunately, the chat service only works as an email delivery system, so by ommitting your email address, I'm rendered unable to respond. Its annoying that the service is so limited and that it affects my ability to chat to people and answer their questions, so that was another reason for me to do this FAQ page.

If you want to chat, feel free to hit the Let's Chat icon and remember to leave your email address. However, you can also feel free to use it as an Ask Me Anything icon and just leave your questions without an email address and I'll add the question here and answer it.

1. Will there be more books coming in the warriors series?

A. After the first five books of the Rulers series is finished. I'm currently working on The Ilia's Lovers, which is a duology. There are three more books in the series after that, each one will set up a Warriors novel. After the last Rulers book is out, I'll alternate between the two series until I have finished writing the Invasion Earth story.

2. When will Syve and Teyr get their story?

A. As soon as I've finished writing The Ilia's Lovers. I have the full novel plotted out, and I can hear both Syve and Teyr complaining in my head about getting on with writing the story. The Ilia's Lovers is next, but Teyr will be the next Science-Fiction Romance I release after that.

3. Why haven't you released any books since 2023?

A. In 2022 I meant to slow down as I was getting tired. I didn't and ended up burning out. Burn out seemed to last a long time, but early 2025 I was diagnosed with cancer, and since my operation, my energy has been returning, though it's been interrmitent. I am able to write, though it's going slowly.

4. When are we going to get the next book in the rulers series?

A. I'm writing The Ilia's Lovers right now and expect to have it out in the first half of 2026.

5. In the Bounty Hunter’s Honour, you said the male Kerisians don’t live in the family home with the male Kerisians, why?

A.Okay, great question. This is a historical thing I have in my head, but never made it onto the page of the story. Males don't live with their families because the bonding lock which Ronin uses with Sophia, used to be much more prevelent in males. Many males in Kerisian history forced the lock on females until females began avoiding males that had the bonding ability. Having the bonding ability became something shameful which is when males started to become hermits, including going out to the atolls to live in solitude, rather than force a female to be with him.

At the same time, families started passing property down through their daughters exclusively because some males used the bonding lock to force the daughters of rich families to bond to them. In our society, our ancestors chose to pass property down through the male line, even though property in many areas of the world was passed matrilinearly. On Keris, they chose to protect their daughters. A lot of the males attempted to bond lock females to them to consolidate and increase their wealth, so having the wealth go down through the daughters, and excluding the male from the inheritance, from gaining through marriage, ensured the safety of the Kerisian women. Brothers often still live with their families and will provide for both their own children and their sisters children.

Over time, as fewer and fewer females mated with males with the bonding lock, the bonding males slowly disappeared from Kerisian society, until it was only the odd male here and there. Those that discover they have the bond are often the ones found isolating themselves on atolls due to societal shame. This is an area Kerisians have a problem with and one I hope they solve in the future.

The males still provide for their families by hunting, and they do get to spend time with their children. Kerisians still pair up, with the same couple coming together to have multiple children and Kerisian males don't father children for more than one female.

6. You mentioned this book, Uneasy Accord, a while ago. What's happening with that?

A. I'm working on it at the same time as writing The Ilia's Lovers. The world of Uneasy Accord is complex, and while the first story omits a lot of that, it's still a complex story full of worldbuilding. I'm hoping to send it out next year, but everytime I finish a rewrite or edit on it, I realise how much work there is still to do. Fingers crossed I'll be sending it to agents mid-2026. If I can't find an agent or publisher, I will release it myself under a pen name.
